Torn scraps of the portrait that had hung on the wall looked like they’d been tossed around the room like confetti. Splinters from the frame impaled pieces of fat in a ghastly parody of hors d'oeuvres on toothpicks

There was blood everywhere, but no bones, not a single bone among the ruin of what was once a living being.
